Exhibits  &  Models

My first professional exhibit was a scale-model of a Giant Ground Sloth and diorama built in an old glass aquarium.  The place I had made it for had a grand unveiling program.  The diorama was hidden under a veil.  They had seats set up, and I was to give a talk about prehistoric sloths.  There may have been refreshments.  Ah, the sheer pageantry!  My time in the limelight was short-lived, however.  For when the cloth was pulled away, a little boy in the front row whined loudly, "I thought it'd be bigger."  Cue the 'wha wha whaaaa' sound effect.   Thanks, kid.
